Austin has conducted market analyses, market plans, valuations, industrial development studies, site location studies, and business strategy studies for all major land uses, for both private and public sector clients. His public sector experience includes economic impact studies; new county government formation strategies; public facilities planning; and general plan and transportation economics assignments. He has testified as an expert witness in state and federal courts. He has been involved in projects in 28 states and 25 countries.
Previously, Austin was co-founder of a real estate consulting firm; the director of research for Property Research Financial Corporation; and a management systems analyst for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He received B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Stanford. He is an adjunct professor in real estate economics at the University of Southern California, and is a member of the Urban Land Institute. Previously, he has been an instructor at UCLA and a trustee of the Real Estate Investment Trust of California.
