Tom has a background in urban mixed-use development, commercial area management, downtown revitalization strategies, retail programming and historic preservation. He manages design and development planning studies for large-scale urban mixed-use projects, urban entertainment/retail projects, commercial and historic districts, and commercial development analysis for shopping centers, transportation centers and resorts. He heads ERA’s retail group in the Urban Mixed-Use Practice and has completed projects throughout the U.S. and in Korea, Uruguay, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Mexico, El Salvador, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Tom holds two degrees in architecture from the University of Texas at Austin, and was a founder of the National Main Street Center in the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He also was one of the three original Main Street Project Managers during the initial demonstration in Madison, Indiana.
